An article describing what Obama is planning for the beginning of 2016. How he is going to have stricter background checks. It gave me the perspective I need to see how the NRA thinks Obama is going to take away all our guns.

This article gave insight on where the NRA is obtaining all this funding. Money comes from the gun industries, donations, and the profit from the NRA’s followers. This article gave me information on how the NRA gains all this power, because money is power. And if large calibered guns go off the market, then that’s a huge loss for the NAR’s business.

  • NRA Explore.” NRA. N.p., n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2016. The history of the NRA was described on the NRA’s official website. This information gave me a clear history in the NRA’s perspective, making it easier to write a narrative through their eyes and how they interpret their own history.

Describes how more background checks aren’t what is needed, but to focus on our failing mental health institutions, the lack of protection of ourselves. Basically, he blames everyone else for using their guns for wrong-doing, instead of proper use of killing someone. I used it to show how the NRA’s argument has never changed.

Using this information I was able to safely say that more Republicans support the NRA than Democrats, confirming that the Republican is against a stricter gun control policy.  

 

  • “Sandy Hook Elementary Shooting: What Happened?” CNN. Cable News Network, n.d. Web. 18 Jan. 2016. This article was describing exactly how the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting went down. Giving the details of who committed it, who and how many were killed, and how the terrorist committed it. It was very helpful for my case study, giving me all the information I needed to show how an armed guard would have stopped Adam Lanza.

 

  • “Remarks from the NRA Press Conference on Sandy Hook School Shooting, Delivered on Dec. 21, 2012 (Transcript).” Washington Post. The Washington Post, 21 Dec. 2012. Web. 18 Jan. 2016. Wayne LaPierre’s speech describing his standpoint on the Sandy Hook school shooting. Describes how having armed good guys would prevent armed bad guys to kill innocent children. I used this to help show the NRA’s viewpoint on how guns should be used. They think that the guns the bad guys are receiving aren’t their fault, but the guns good guys are receiving are all legitimate.
